The books that changed me

The Sydney Morning Herald's Sunday edition runs a regular piece called The Books That Changed Me.  Each week, an author nominates five books they think important, and the reasons why.

I'm very happy and privileged to say that this week it was my turn to give it a go.  It's part of the print edition but they also put it online.  If you'd like to see what I picked for the five books that changed me, it's all over at the Sydney Morning Herald.

(My author photo is right next to an author shot of Colleen McCullough...OMG)

Have to concur about Dune, a complete revelation; has to one of the greatest works of fiction ever, especially considering when it was written. It still holds up well, and never really given the credit it deserves, probably because it's sci-fi; it is so much deeper than something like Lord of the Rings, [which was my favorite book as a child, and about the only thing that encouraged me to read].

Conan Doyle is a given.

Hi Geoff.

Dune will be a classic, I'm sure of it. Though I thought, when I read Dune, that they could make a terrific movie out of it. How wrong I was.

I read Dune back in high school and recall being blown away. Going now to see if my library has it for audio lending.
