I wandered into the local Angus & Robertson book store (a major chain), and sitting on the shelves were copies of The Pericles Commission!
I instantly offered to sign them, and Marlita the assistant store manager said yes please and popped on "Signed by the author" stickers. I still find it very weird to walk up to a store person and ask if they'd like me to scribble in their product.

Here's how popular Port Macquarie is for holidays: Marlita commented I was the fourth author to walk in within the space of two weeks, and we were all there on holiday. Clearly a very literary place. So if you're looking for a signed book, Port Macquarie seems to the place to be.

It sounds like a lovely place to shop for a book, signed or otherwise!
But I think I'll have to wait for your autograph until you come back to the U.S. to tour for Nico's second adventure . . . you are coming back, yes?
How lovely to see your book at the store. Makes the vacation seem more festive, doesn't it?
Sounds like a lovely vacation and a wonderful book store! I hope you got to relax and didn't have to work on Book #3 during the trip.
@Sarah: Another US tour for sure, though when it'll be I don't know. The fan convention dates are not looking good compared to my likely release dates. Bouchercon has been moved forward a month, which makes sense for Bouchercon but not for me, since it makes no sense to turn up without a new book. So it may be my next trip will be first quarter next year instead. We'll have to see.
@Vicky: Makes the vacation seem strange!
@Stephanie: As it happens, we took the copy edits for book 2 with us, and we did the final check through while we were there! If it's any compensation, I've slacked off totally ever since.
I can't even imagine how awesome it must feel to walk into a bookstore and see your work on the shelves. Sounds like they were delighted you stopped in! You're living the dream. :)
Ah, I want to go to the beach! I'd settle for temps over 30 degrees.
Sounds like you had a lovely time with the family. So awesome to see your book in the wild. I'm reading it now :)
Do let me know what you think, Trisha!
Jennifer, I was warned that some store owners would not be keen for their stock to be signed, but so far I've found universal happiness, which is cool.
