The Pericles Commission will be launched at "M" is for Mystery on October 12!
I'm reliably informed that I will do a reading. Watching me try to do this should constitute the major entertainment of the evening.
All right...the truth is, I have quite a bit of public speaking experience, and I've done speeches to up to about a thousand people, which is considerably more than I expect at the store, so in theory this should be a breeze. I guess I better practise reading my own book.
I do hope if you're in the Bay Area that you'll come along. I really, really want to meet as many of my blog friends as I can on this trip.
A big thank you to "M" is for Mystery for hosting me!

I have to attend a wedding in Boston on the 12th. I wonder if I can pick up a shuttle from Logan to SF... I'll already be dressed nicely.
Readings are fun. :-) Congrats!
Hi Jane, ss it happens, Boston is on my wish list. How long will you be there?
Book tours rarely hit Indianapolis, but should it happen, I'll be there...
Please do tell us where else you are stopping! I don't imagine you'll be stopping in Atlanta, GA, but one can dream!
Hey Nevets, I was in Indianapolis last year!
Hi Vicky, I'm afraid Atlanta is a little bit too tricky. But yes, I'll put up confirmed events as they happen.
How exciting! Congratulations! Any chance you'll be in St. Louis or (better still!) KC? You are, I'm there! With enough warning, I might be able to make somewhere in Iowa or Arkansas. I'd love to meet you in person. :)
I wish I could be there! For certain I want a play by play. I'd love to be entertained. ;) However, I'm sure you'll do terrific. Your book is one of the reasons I'm SO looking forward to fall.
Loretta, Bouchercon 2011 will be in St Louis. I'm already registered. And yep, I'd like to meet you too!
Thank you Anne, that's kind of you to say. I don't know about play by play, but much as I shudder to think it, probably someone there will have a camera.
Cool! I've been wanting to attend a Bouchercon. If it's going to be that close to home, I'll have to see if I can make it.
Of course, that will entail a certain amount of nerve. I'm a little scared of St. Louie, you know. As far as I know, it's a lovely city. But it does sit on top of the New Madrid fault, and it's been hit by deadly tornadoes more times than any other urban area in the U.S.
(If you ever want to scare yourself, I have pictures on my website. You have to scroll down past "floods" and "earthquakes".)
Excellent. I've never seen a tornado.
Here it comes. Gary invades the US. Again. O.o
There may be some slight resemblance to Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, but overall I think you're probably safe in your beds.
I've never seen a tornado
I'll see what I can do. ;)
BTW, if you get a little nervous before your reading, remember, "M" is also for "martini".
(And now I have the giggles picturing a tipsy Australian trying to read Ancient Greek names to a bunch of clueless Yanks. "Nico *hic!* olaolaolaos" "What'd he say?" "I dunno. Something about kangaroos?" Sorry! It's late here!)
I've only had a martini once in my life. Naturally, I ordered it shaken, not stirred.
It was awful.
I'm more a wine and beer guy.
Well if you've been to Indianapolis, you *have* to visit Fort Wayne!
Right. Fort Wayne's on my visit list. Maybe not for this year though.
I lived there for five years, so if you do end up stopping there, I'll be sure to buy you a cup of coffee or tea from the best shop in town and give you all the pointers about where to stay and where to eat and where people who read books actually hang out in town.
Thanks Nevets. The best part would be finally getting to meet you.
Seattle, by any chance? You'll already be on the West Coast, and it's a fairly quick flight from the Bay Area.
Hi Susanna, Seattle is on my wish list, not least because both you and Anthony Pacheco are Seattle-ites (I've just invented that word...). A visit requires all the stars to align though so it's impossible to make any promises. Here's hoping.
Oh! That's close to where I work. I'll try to come for sure!
Yay! I would love to see you there, Meghan!
*whispers repeatedly* San Diego San Diego San Diego San Diego San Diego San Diego!
If you make it down here I'll buy you dinner!
Stay tuned!
