Dana and Sophie nominated for Edgars

The Edgar nominations are out, and two of our friends are in the running!

Sophie Littlefield is nominated for best first novel by an American author. Here's the list:

The Girl She Used to Be by David Cristofano (Grand Central Publishing)
Starvation Lake by Bryan Gruley (Simon & Schuster - Touchstone)
The Weight of Silence by Heather Gudenkauf (MIRA Books)
A Bad Day for Sorry by Sophie Littlefield (Minotaur Books Thomas Dunne Books)
Black Water Rising by Attica Locke (HarperCollins)
In the Shadow of Gotham by Stefanie Pintoff (Minotaur Books)

Dana Cameron is nominated for best short story!

"Last Fair Deal Gone Down" Crossroad Blues by Ace Atkins (Busted Flush Press)
"Femme Sole" Boston Noir by Dana Cameron (Akashic Books)
"Digby, Attorney at Law" Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine by Jim
Fusilli (Dell Magazines)
"Animal Rescue" Boston Noir by Dennis Lehane (Akashic Books
"Amapola" Phoenix Noir by Luis Alberto Urrea (Akashic Books)

The last time I mentioned Dana, I was telling you she won the Macavity for a different short story, The Night Things Changed, and before that she won an Agatha too. This should be a hint to rush out and read every short story she's written.

Good luck to both of you in the Edgars!

Woohoo! I'm going to have to check out Sophie's book since it was one of your desert island recs today. :) It's going to take me a while to get through your list, but I'm a determined gal!

Yes, it was rather prescient of me to write that list only hours before the nominations. But then, I know A Bad Day For Sorry is a great book.

The surprise to me is that Stuart Neville isn't in the list for best novel. I haven't read any of the nominated books (bad me), but if they're better than Stuart's Ghosts Of Belfast then they must be truly outstanding.

It might take you a while to get through my long list of recommended reads on your blog. I'm pretty sure some of the series won't be to your taste, which might make things faster. But then, I know you're going to love some of them.

Gary, thanks as always for your friendship and for being my staunch supporter! Today has been nothing short of magic - never thought something like this would happen. And I get to meet Dana in NY! I feel like Cinderella....

Hey Sophie! We're all so pleased for you.

I hope you'll be sharing a stage with Dana in NY. But making the list is the big deal.

I'm sorry I can't be there for the excitement! But I'll know if you or Dana win; I'll be able to hear Janet from this distance.

Gary, thank you so much for the kind shout-out! It was super to meet you at B'con! I'm very much still in a state of happy shock. Gobsmacked is not too strong a word...

Sophie, congratulations and best of luck! I look forward to meeting you in NYC (my husband is already digging out his good suit)!

If anything wonderful happens for either of us, I predict Gary will be able to hear it very clearly.

Best of luck Dana!

And whatever magic you use to write your short stories, please keep doing it.
