The 1,000th reader comment has been made on this blog! That 1,000 does not include any of my own replies, only comments made by you, dear readers.

We've reached this milestone together - you, after all, wrote all the comments. To each and every one of you, friends and readers, thanks for being here.

I was quite sure comment #1,000 would come from one of the regular writers. In fact commenter 1,000 is first time visitor Judith Engracia, who recently began as an intern at certain literary agencies called FinePrint & Nancy Coffey. Welcome Judith!

How do you count comments? I never knew about that addiction. :) I count visits, hits...followers...but comments? :)

Congratulations! I hope there's confetti happening somewhere LOL

Congratulations to you and to Judith!

I'm also kind of curious how you count comments. I hope you didn't have to do it post by post, personally!

Congrats Gary! Share how you do it.

How to count comments: it's fairly easy. In blogger.com, go to Edit Posts. Each line tells you how many comments per post.

Of course that gives the total including my own comments. But I also have a different process I always follow:

All comments are copied to me as email (it's a blogger option).

If the comment's from me I delete it, because I'm boring.

If the comment's from you, I save it, because you're interesting.

So all I have to do is look at the total emails in my Blog Comments folder.

Woohoo, comment 1005! And thanks for telling us how, too.

Wow! I'm impressed, both by the 1,000 comments and your keeping track.

This is one of my favorite blogs to visit- keep cranking out the posts!

Thanks for the congratulations everyone, but you know, in this post I congratulate you, because you wrote them all.

Congratulations. That's pretty awesome.

Oh my goodness! That's me! I feel like a thousand bucks :)!

It's such a coincidence, too, because I just became introduced to Nicolaos' world a few days ago and I can't stop thinking about it. I may be a first time visitor, but I'm a huge fan (Nicolaos and Socrates together crack me up)!

I was thinking of talking to all my old professors(who teach ancient philosophy, history, art, & lit) because they would definitely enjoy your work, too :)

Thank you Yvonne!

Hi Judith!

I hope you're having fun at the agency. So Janet threw the second book at you, did she? I'm glad you like it.

If your degree's in history and philosophy then she may have asked you to fact check it. If so, sorry about that, 'cause you've got about 200 things to check.

Do please email me when you've finished and let me know what you think!

That's awesome! And so funny--yay, Judith!

You have a "blog comments" folder? Wow. You're so organized. I need a secretary.

Gary Corby said...

Hi Carrie. It's not that hard! All I have to do is drag and drop incoming emails. Deleting them would take the same effort.

Hi Jo!

I'm wondering if there's some rule that people reading my ms at FinePrint must have names starting with J.

There seems to be a similar rule at SMP for editors starting with K.

I hope you are sending over a jar of Vegemite as a prize ;)

LOL :)

Congrats on such a successful blog Gary.

Hi Kosmos!

Judith apparently has been warned about me in case I ever turn up in NY bearing jars.

Congrats on the 1,000th comment! :)

Hey, can I ask you a silly question right out of left field? I've been reading Phaedo and it's making me nuts because I don't know how to pronounce it. Is it Fido? Feedo? Fado? Frodo?

TIA! :D

Welcome to the blog, narf!

Hi Loretta. Your question inspired a blog post. Hope you like it.

Thanks Merry! I've got to say, I never thought I'd enjoy blogging this much.
