I'm sure Theseus would have been on the list.

A delegation took the 100 names to the Oracle at Delphi and asked the God Apollo to pick 10.

Doing it this way meant Cleisthenes could claim the Gods had rubber stamped his reforms.

Theseus didn't make the cut. Maybe Apollo had something against him?

Nicolaos doesn't know this bit of history in the story because it happened 30 years before he was born.

Obviously the priests (or the Pythoness) were doing the picking, so the question is why didn't they pick such an obvious winner. My guess is they really didn't care what the answer was, so they chose at random.Gary Corbyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14759372069119740227noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-524039117682127217.post-62993081615953714812009-07-01T00:17:01.250+10:002009-07-01T00:17:01.250+10:00I have been writing a novel for many years called;...I have been writing a novel for many years called; “Theseus the King.” I recently found your very interesting and informative blog page. Why (in your opinion) was Theseus NOT placed among the ten heroes’ in Athens.Martyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13048847365398559366noreply@blogger.com
